Bring on the Goofy faces!!!!

Yo! Welcome to ‘Potatoon’s way to draw cartoony face’ :-D Today, I will explain to you my step-by-step in drawing faces, with some info.

But, I gotta tell you. If you are looking for something like this:

where are their noses??!

Then I’ll say, I can’t help you :B

My style of drawing isn’t anime; its cartoony with more realism.

This is going to be kinda long, but there will be a lot of drawings; so it would bore you so much… I hope.

First! Lets meet the first thing we have to study for drawing face:

Oh yeah bb. It’s the great Human’s skull. And he say love to you! ;-)

Now you might wonder

“wait! You mean we have to learn and draw every bit of skulls to make a cartoon? Noooo!!”

the answer is… HELL NAW. Its not that complicated! (throws confetti happily)

…but, we still have to study it anyway. (pick up confetti sadly)

but no, we don’t really draw a skull for every faces we draw; that’ll be too hard. At least to me. Bahaha.

We use skull to know the basic on where you put things (eyes, mouth, noses) its just example :-D

And here, is a more simple basic of human’s head

Now, let’s fill it up!

First, eyes!

Remember, eyes are round/circle, not square or ~*amazingly oval*~. So it will be easier to draw a circle first, then draw the pupil, iris, and then the eye lines. Like this:

Just remember that eyes aren’t THAT big. Its not so small either. You can decide the length by looking reference, or easier your own eyes ;-)

Next, nose!

Nose could be quite tricky at first because of the shape. You have to think about the shape the most. Except when you’re drawing Voldemort.

There’s 2 technique on drawing noses. These:

 I don’t use the first one often, I use the second one because its more simple. But you can choose for yourself ;-)

 And here’s some example of different shapes of nose. Yep, noses are different! Just look at your nose and your cat’s nose! Different ain’t it? ;-D

Now the mouth!

Remember the ‘mouth area’? Here’s how to use it:

That’s the use of mouth area line; to know where the mouth ends and begin :-D

Now some examples of lips and the emotions of it

You got the ‘filler’! you’re almost done!

If you’ve practice a lot, you could use even more simple lines than the first one! Just one circle and one line. Make things easier and faster! Like this:

Now, last but not least, keep in mind that PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT FACES STRUCTURE. Its usually depends on the gender and the fat contribution of the person. Have some experiment :-D

1. face is SRS BSNS. Look up to reference for a good structure. I do at first :-D and then you can experiment by your own! You can always reference Johnny Depp to draw manly man

4. keep in mind, you dont have to draw in MY style. you can take the information you found useful here and use it on your own style :-)
